Sophia Mackell is a Portland-based Textile Designer and Maker.
After graduating with a BFA in Studio Art and Art History from Humboldt State University, she relocated to San Francisco to intern with Kate Miller, textile designer and founder of elworthy studio. During her formative time there, Sophia was able to develop her textile portfolio as well as gain experience in styling, outreach, and creating environmentally responsible product.
Since then, Sophia has relocated to the Pacific Northwest where she works as a freelance artist for a wide spectrum of clients ranging from footwear to popular bands while simultaneously developing her own independent product.
Sophia is committed to environmentally and socially responsible design. She believes that beauty is essential, that nature can be our sanctuary, and that fashion is a powerful vehicle for change.
